So you don’t have time for all of Europe in one go? For a smaller piece of the pie, try the Eurail Selectpass. Create your own pass combination by picking 3-5 adjacent European countries. With some of the smaller countries, you can even get two or three countries for the price of one.
The Eurail Selectpass gives you unlimited travel on the national rail networks of any 3, 4 or 5 bordering countries out of 18 European countries that are connected by train or ship.
However, with clever planning, you can get up to five additional countries for free!
- Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are counted as one country.
- Bulgaria, Montenegro and Serbia are counted as one country.
- Croatia and Slovenia are counted as one country.
Use the table below to determine the three, four or five countries appropriate for your Eurail Selectpass.
Example: To travel from Austria to Spain (which are not bordering countries), you need a pass that is valid in Austria, Italy, France and Spain.

Eurail and Britrail
The United Kingdom is not part of the Eurail network. If you wish to travel by train through both the UK and other parts of Europe, you should consider buying a separate Britrail pass. Learn more about Britrail at our sister site BritrailForAll.com (opens in a new window).
The Republic of Ireland is part of both Eurail and Britrail. If you intend to travel only within Ireland, buy a Eurail Ireland pass. If your journey goes through both Ireland and mainland Europe (but not the United Kingdom) consider a Eurail Selectpass.
For travel in both Ireland and the United Kingdom, your best choice is the Britrail + Ireland pass. Learn more about the Britrail + Ireland pass at our Britrail site BritrailForAll.com (opens in a new window).
